Enhancement of bone to polylactic acid plate bonding by carbonate apatite coating

چکیده

Polylactic acid (PLA) has no osteoconductivity, causing the early failure of PLA implants. For obviating this problem, coating, rather than incorporation, with calcium phosphate is considered to be effective. In study, plates were coated granular carbonate apatite (CAp), inorganic component bone, using thermal fusion bonding method. The water contact angles CAp-coated (CAp/PLA) and 0.7° ± 0.1° 90.3° 3.9°, respectively. Thus, CAp coating significantly improved wettability surface. Furthermore, roughness (Ra) CAp/PLA was 11.7 2.2 μm 1.8 0.2 μm, involved two types micropores (~30–80 ~2 μm). provided a rough surface plate. uncoated fixed onto rabbit tibial evaluate their bone formation adhesion abilities. Improved Bonding of Partially Osteomyelitic Bone to Titanium Pins Owing to Biomimetic Coating of Apatite

Increased fixation strength of the bone-pin interface is important for inhibiting pin loosening after external fixation. In a previous study, an apatite (Ap) layer was formed on anodically oxidized titanium (Ti) pins by immersing them in an infusion fluid-based supersaturated calcium phosphate solution at 37 °C for 48 h. In the present study, an Ap layer was also successfully formed using a one...

Characterization and Bone Response of Carbonate-Containing Apatite-Coated Titanium Implants Using an Aqueous Spray Coating

We performed thin carbonate-containing apatite (CA) coating on titanium (Ti) by an aqueous spray coating (ASC) method that consisted of a Ca-CO₃-PO₄ complex. Two different CA coatings were produced by two different spray amounts and were heat-treated after spraying. We evaluated three-dimensional structures, adhesiveness to Ti, and durability of the CA film. In addition, we performed immersion ...

Comparison of Purity and Properties of Hydroxyl Carbonate Apatite Extracted from Natural Thigh Bone by Different Physio-chemical Methods

New approaches to extracting natural hydroxyl carbonate apatite from bio waste of bovine bones cortical femur have been developed. To extract pure and natural bio ceramics, three different treatments have been applied: 1-Calcination heat treatment at temperature of 700 , 2-alkaline hydrothermal at temperature of 275 and 3-Pressurized low polarity water at temperature of 250 . Raw bovine bone an...

Role of Polylactic Acid in Bone Regeneration –A Systematic Review

Bone regeneration is a complex, physiological process of bone formation, which can be seen during normal fracture healing, and is involved in continuous remodeling throughout adult life. However, there are complex clinical conditions in which bone regeneration is required in large quantity, such as for skeletal reconstruction of large bone defects created by trauma, infection, tumor resection a...
